Conceptual Design

The workstation management of the CIP-Pool is based on the server-client concept.
Two servers (Windows Server 2008) manage 28 workstations with Windows 7 Professional.

Printer:                   2 B/W printer: HP 9050 DN
                   1 colour printer : HP4650 DN
flat bed scanner:
                   2 HP Scanjet 8270C
                   (usable from PC#5 and PC#9)


The computer room is equipped with its own subnet inside the university network (UKLAN). All workstations, servers and printers are connected to each other over a network switch with gigabit ethernet.

Placement of hardware

Separated from the library by a glass wall, the CIP-Pool can be used for courses without any disturbance of the users of the library.

Presentation equipment

For courses the CIP-Pool is equipped with the following devices and tools:

  • Beamer: Sanyo PLC XU 48, permanently assembled
  • Microphone
  • Projection screen
  • White board
