Dr. Karsten Danielmeier appointed honorary professor of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences
On April 19th Karsten Danielmeier from COVESTRO AG was appointed honorary professor of the Department of Chemistry at MNF. He is honored for his outstanding commitment. His lecture "Innovation Management" has become increasingly popular with our students in recent years. The college of the Department of Chemistry welcomes him and is sure that the cooperation between the UoC and COVESTRO will be strengthened.

Dr. Karsten Danielmeier is Senior Vice President and Head of Growth Businesses at Covestro Deutschland AG, Leverkusen. He was born in Werl in 1967. After graduating from high school in 1986 at Mariengymnasium Werl and subsequent military service, he studied chemistry from 1987 at the University of Bonn and, after completing his doctorate in 1995 with Prof. Eberhard Steckhan, joined Bayer AG in Leverkusen in 1996, where he held numerous positions with increasing responsibility in Leverkusen and Pittsburgh (USA). In 2015, with the spin-off of Covestro, he became head of research for the CAS (Coatings, Adhesives, Specialties) business unit at Covestro, and took over the area of growth businesses in 2021. He has been teaching the “Applied Innovation Management” course at the University of Cologne since 2017. He is the author or co-author of over 45 scientific publications and patents. In 2019 he published the book Polyurethanes, Coatings, Adhesives and Sealants with three colleagues. He supported Jugend Forscht as a juror for many years and held various positions in the German Chemical Society (GDCh). He has been on the board of directors since 2020 and the president of the GDCh since 2022.

Dr. Karsten Danielmeier zum Honorarprofessor der Mathematisch-Naturwissenschaftlichen Fakultät ernannt
Am 19.4. wurde Karsten Danielmeier von der COVESTRO AG zum Honorarprofessor des Departments Chemie an der MNF ernannt.
Er wird ausgezeichnet für seine herausragende Vorlesung „Innovationsmanagement“, die sich in den letzten Jahren bei unseren Studierenden zunehmender Beliebtheit erfreut. Das Kollegium des Departments Chemie heisst ihn herzlich willkommen und ist sicher, dass die Zusammenarbeit der UzK mit der COVESTRO gestärkt wird.

Dr. Karsten Danielmeier ist Senior Vice President und Leiter des Bereiches Wachstumsgeschäfte bei der Covestro Deutschland AG, Leverkusen. Er wurde 1967 in Werl geboren. Nach dem Abitur 1986 am Mariengymnasium Werl und anschließendem Grundwehrdient studierte er ab 1987 an der Universität Bonn Chemie und trat nach erfolgter Promotion 1995 bei Prof. Eberhard Steckhan 1996 in die Bayer AG in Leverkusen ein, wo er zahlreiche Positionen mit steigender Verantwortung in Leverkusen und Pittsburgh (USA) ausübte. 2015, mit der Ausgliederung von Covestro, wurde er bei Covestro Forschungsleiter für den Geschäftsbereich CAS (Coatings, Adhesives, Specialties), um 2021 den Bereich der Wachstumsgeschäfte zu übernehmen. Seit 2017 unterrichtet er den Kurs „Applied Innovation Management“ an der Universität zu Köln. Er ist Autor oder Co-autor von über 45 wissenschaftlichen Publikationen und Patenten. 2019 veröffentlichte er mit drei Kollegen das Buch Polyurethanes, Coatings, Adhesives and Sealants. Er unterstützte über viele Jahre Jugend Forscht als Juror und hatte verschiedene Funktionen in der GDCh inne. Seit 2020 ist er im Vorstand, seit 2022 der Präsident der GDCh.
